Uber Egypt has been operating since its launch in Cairo in 2014 (expanding later to Alexandria and other cities), providing ride-hailing and delivery services that leverage advanced mobile app technology. The platform offers a range of options—including private rides, shared rides (Shuttle), Comfort, Taxi, Scooter, and delivery services—designed to balance affordability, convenience, and safety (). With a centralized Cairo Centre of Excellence established in 2016, Uber supports drivers and riders across multiple languages, offering round-the-clock assistance  . Uber’s technology-driven model not only provides income flexibility for drivers—with an estimated EGP 1.8 billion in additional driver earnings in 2023—but also yields significant economic benefits for local businesses (approximately EGP 710 million) and consumer surplus (around EGP 67 billion), all while prioritizing safety through integrated app features and rigorous driver screening
